Over the last five decades Govt. Home science college has a leading educational institution in Narmada region, which is situated on the banks of divine river Narmada. this college has conferred a specific identity to Hoshangabad in the domain of studies of home science .if we turn around the pages of history we find that the college was establish in the year 1961 by the then girls education society. it was taken over by the M.P. state government on 07/02/1971.and named as "Govt. Home Science College". sustaining its glorious tradition this college is setting new milestone of development . the students of this college are recognized  not  only in the field of academic activities but in the field of cultural and sports as well. the devastating flood of Narmada in the year 1973 gripped the college in its arms , but by its consistent struggle and efforts  it rose from the ashes , setting the example of phoenix as is said in the greek mythology. by the blessing of the same river i.e. Narmada the new building was erected which cost Rs. 40 lacks . the college has its own erected   library -containing about 51000 books at present .right from the year 1995-96 this college has its affiliation with Barkatullah University. it received p. g. status in 1997. the college has a separate science building, auditorium, hostel building and library building .
